About Us
From Concept to Creation

The story behind Harben's Equine Care Centre began forty years ago when a young boy, Phil Collins entered the world of horse racing. He has since been involved in this enchanting sport on both sides of the fence, initially as an employee and now, following the sale of a successful business in 1995 as a racehorse owner in his own right. Phil explains more:

"My vision for an Equine Care Centre really began to take shape when one of my horses Lucky Oak broke down, needing treatment. He needed to be transported from yard to yard in order to gain the veterinary treatment and subsequent aftercare he required, before eventually returning to his racing career. I had the idea of developing a centre at which all transport, veterinary treatment and aftercare programmes could be under one roof"

Harben's FarmPhil retired in 2000 and one year into retirement he acquired Harbens Farm, which is situated close to the South Downs in Laughton, East Sussex.

"My son, Charlie and I project managed and were heavily involved in re-designing and re-building the site. We installed a hydro-therapy spa, treadmill and horse walker and updated the stable blocks and indoor school. We approached a local well known Veterinary Practice and together we designed and installed a state of the art Veterinary Clinic with full surgical facilities on site. "

The team of highly skilled Veterinary Surgeons at Cliffe Veterinary Group, Equine Centre not only carry out the VetCell treatment but also perform a variety of procedures such as tie backs, shock wave therapy and endoscopes, as well as other treatments for tendon injuries should Stem Cell Therapy not be suitable.Two-horse low-loading horse box

"We also purchased a two horse low loading horse box and we offer 24 hour transport facility, which means we can collect and deliver horses anywhere in the country. "

Harben's Equine Care Centre offers the very best treatment and aftercare facilities any horse may need to recover from any type of injury. This can now be done under one roof and for a fixed price.

"The price quoted is the price you pay. I want my customers to relax, having the peace of mind that all of their horses' needs are being taken care of at an agreed price. "
